Polling failed on Domain controller

I've just installed UDT 3.2 into my existing Orion system.  I am running NPM 11.0.1, SAM 6.1.1, NTA 3.11.  I have added my 10 Domain Controllers in UDT, but 3 of them come back with the following status, "Polling Failed, check security log access credentials"   The domain controllers are 2008R2, 2012 and 2003.  The account I am using is a member of the Domain Admins group.  I've checked every permission I can think of on the logs, but the account has all needed permissions.  I've been able to remotely access the logs with the account.  I'm not sure what else to check as I can't find any other errors.  When I tested UDT 3.1, I did not have this issue.  I am using the same account as my test.  Thanks for any pointers.

ipNetToMediaTable Timing out

Hi all,

I'm having a major headache with 2 devices not reporting their ARP tables into UDT.

I have 2 layer 3 Cisco 3750X switches that will not feed their ARP tables into UDT.  I have been playing with UDT compatibility checker and SNMPwalk and have found some quirks.  I ran both tools against a comparable switch with the same config, and everything passes.  On these 2 problem switches, when you run the UDT compatibility checker, the ipNetToMediaTable, OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.22. fails due to a timeout, error code 31040.  When you SNMP walk it, i am able to view everything.

The switches are Cisco 3750X IOS 15.0.2SE6 and 15.2.1E.  All the switches that report correctly are 12.x.x.  I am using SNMPv3.  When i added a SNMPv2 community string, the UDT tables populated.

I have tickets open with Solarwinds and Cisco.  Both are saying the problem is with the other.  I'm stuck in the middle with no solution, no data, and superiors up the food chain waiting for completed reports.

Has anyone encountered this issue?  If so have you found a solution?

Thanks much,

Lee

Missing Reports

One of the first things I looked at when I installed the Pre-Release beta/eval, was the reports. Worked great.  Yesterday, (before upgrading to PR2) I went to the reports tab on the website, and it was empty.

I installed the new release this morning, and the same thing - my reports tab is empty.  I checked on the server, and the C:\Program Files (x86)\Solarwinds\Orion\Reports folder has quite a few reports listed, but I dont see them on the web.

Am I missing something? (Standalone eval at this point - I have not integrated into my NPM install.)

UDT bulk adding nodes

We have had UDT in production for sometime and have come across a bulk of nodes that are in NPM but not in UDT.  I am unsure the best way to add these.  For a couple of switches I went through discovery central (from udt admin guide) and walked through the steps but it does not give the L2 or L3 option and just automatically does both.  After they are discovered I had to go edit the node and uncheck the L3 for UDT for these nodes.  Also had to uncheck the interface vlan(s) and uplink ports on each.  Maybe there is a more efficient method of adding a bulk of nodes to UDT (over 200) with the settings we want.  All of these nodes are already in NPM.  Thanks for any help.

UDT Wireless Issue

Hi All

I've just purchased UDT and IP Address Manager but I'm having an  issue with the wireless module

When I click on the Thin Access point the current endpoint connections are incorrect and I have multiple endpoints with the same name and most of the logged on users are hard wired not wireless clients

Any ideas on the problem

Thanks in advance

How does VRF polling work in UDT?

We're trying to get L3 information from a Cisco Nexus 9508 with two VRFs but UDT doesn't seem to be getting the ARP entries. Everything we've read says that each VRF needs to be mapped to a context and then that context should be mapped back to a community. Is that necessary? I don't see anything in the documentation.

UDT Compatibility Check -Eventing6 didnt find any matching log entries

Hi Guys,

We have UDT in our infrastructure and it is not capturing the user details. We have 14 Dc's being Polled to capture that information.

When i check the UDT compatibility Checker. It gives User details for 1 DC and for the rest 13 DC's it says "Eventing6 didnt find any matching log entries"

Kindly let me know what is missing from our end.

Thanks,

Reuben

UDT Out of Date - How to refresh quicker?

$

Good afternoon,

I have noticed that with UDT, searching for a MAC address, and/or an IP address sometimes shows the wrong client station as having a particular MAC or IP address.  I can validate this by physically checking the client (PC or Mac), and looking at the network configuration details, and see that it's set correctly, but UDT has it wrong.

Is there a way to make UDT more accurate?  Better refresh rate or something?  Is there something more that I need to configure?

Thanks for any/all of your suggestions.

UDT and voice vlan

I was having trouble getting UDT to learn MAC addresses for ports configured on a Cisco 3750 to use the voice vlan. I could see the computer attached to the VOIP phone but not the phone itself. After looking through some pcaps trying to figure out what was going on, my coworker came up with the idea to try setting one port as an access port in the voice vlan and voila, all of the phones showed up in UDT. The port that was configured as an access port didn't even have anything connected. It was one of the SFP ports that we'll probably never use in most cases.

While this is certainly a solution, I don't think it's the best solution. I can't seem to wrap my mind around why this is the case. Can anyone here explain this behavior? Is there a better workaround?

Thanks!

Thought of sharing this query which helps in identifying the status of UDT polling jobs which have failed. Got this from petersent. So just reporsting it so that others can also know about.

use NetPerfMon;
select b.nodeid,b.engineid,c.ServerName,COUNT(*) numberOfFailures
from udt_job a,nodes b,Engines c
where a.NodeID=b.nodeid
and b.engineid = c.engineid
and a.JobLastResult = 0
group by b.nodeid,b.engineid,c.ServerName

We want to install Orion and UDT.  We do not have NPM and do not want it right now.  Does the UDT 3.2.2 install Orion and does it install a local database for UDT?

We want to optimize our resources and possibly install Orion and UDT on separate servers, Can we do that

thank you.........Rick

UDT3.1: What happened to UDT port discovery?

$

this seems to be throwing me into network sonar discovery instead, which doesn't work in my environment[1]

Anyone know how I'm supposed to add UDT ports in UDT 3.1.

if I have to use network sonar discovery, then I think this has put maybe the final nail in UDT's coffin: the lack of an API, no VRF support, and now an inability to add new UDT ports

Any way to add UDT ports to an existing switch node in NPM without having to delete & re-add the node?

We have a bunch of switches added in NPM and whomever added them previously did not scan for UDT ports when adding the nodes.  Now, I'd like to have those switches scanning with UDT ports and I can't seem to find a way to additionally add that on the existing node.  The only way I've seemed to find was to delete the node, re-add it, and then click "scan for UDT" while finalizing the addition of the node.  Is this this only way, or am I simply missing something?

Not sure if anyone can help with this, but I added my Cisco Nexus 5k switches to UDT but I am not seeing any port details for any of the ports. I see all ports, but device data for each port is not showing up.

Port count - misleading

$

One problem i am seeing is that the layer 2 vlans are counted as ports and therfore putting the port count out of tilt.

The switch this screen print was taken from has 150 layer 2 vlans. So in actual fact i only have 46 ports free.

I really need to be able to remove ports from the port count for things like Uplinks and layer2 vlans etc.

Not all Hostnames and IPs showing, only MAC address

2I have just installed UDT and can only see some IP Addresses and hostnames.  I can only see the IP addresses and hostnames on one vlan.  What do I need to do to get the IP addresses and hostnames to show up for devices on all the different vlans?  I am running UDT 2.0.0.  Yes I know that version is old, but our maintenance expired.
